Dr Shane Farrelly

Between
1985 and 1988 Shane worked as an
Occupational Health Physician in Canada and
was appointed Medical Examiner for the
Workman's compensation Board in the
petro-chemical industry.
Shane
worked as a Case Manager assessing
individuals who were out of work and putting
together appropriate rehabilitation
programmes to return them to their
pre-injury or pre-illness function.
On his return to Ireland and in his role as
Occupational Health Physician he has taken a
very proactive approach in helping to case
manage an employee’s injury/illness in
conjunction with their General Practitioner
and attending Consultant. Shane has
significant experience in the medical
assessment of stress related cases in the
Public Sector.
As a result of Shane's Occupational Health Work
and work as an Independent Medical Assessor
to these bodies, Shane lectures extensively
on Stress in the Workplace.
Dr Blánaid Hayes

Blánaid is an honours graduate of University
College Dublin. She completed her basic
specialist training with the Membership of
the Royal College of Physicians of Ireland (MRCPI).
She then undertook training in occupational
medicine, achieving initially a Higher
Diploma in Occupational Health (UCD) and
subsequently Membership of the Faculty of
Occupational Medicine (MFOM) of the Royal
College of Physicians of Ireland (RCPI).
She also holds a Certificate in Managing
Occupational Health Services.
As Consultant in Occupational Medicine,
Blánaid set up the Occupational Health
Department in Beaumont Hospital in the early
1990’s and continues to work there as part
of a multidisciplinary team. She has also
provided ‘in house’ consultancy services to
IBM Ireland over a 10 year period.
Blánaid is a Fellow of the Royal College of
Physicians of Ireland (FRCPI) and a Fellow
of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (FFOM).
She is a member of the Board of the FOM and
recently took on the role of NSD (National
Specialty Director) with responsibility for
the management of specialist training. She
is also actively involved as a trainer
herself and is an examiner with the FOM and
a member of its Examinations Committee. She
is also a former president of the Irish
Society of Occupational Medicine.
Blánaid has participated in the development
of national guidelines on MRSA which are
currently under review. She has also
contributed to national guidelines on ‘Hand
Hygiene’ and ‘Prevention of Transmission of
Blood Borne Diseases in the Healthcare
Setting’.
Blánaid’s publications include papers on
needlestick injury and influenza
immunisation in healthcare workers. Her
particular professional interests include
mental health in the workplace,
musculoskeletal disorders and
rehabilitation. She has presented papers on
a variety of occupational health issues at
national and international academic
meetings.
Dr Hemal Thakore
Occupational Health
Physician

Dr Hemal Thakore works
as an occupational health physician with
Partner Health. His clinical special
interest areas are in medico-legal medicine
and in travel medicine. He holds
qualifications in occupational medicine,
travel medicine and medical education.
Hemal also has a background in academic
medical education and has worked with a
number of institutions both nationally and
internationally in a senior educational
advisory capacity. He continues to maintain
this role in post-graduate medical education
in Ireland.
Hemal is a graduate of the University of
Dublin.
Dr Aoife Ni
Dhuthaigh
General Practitioner with Occupational
Health experience

Aoife graduated from University College,
Dublin in 2004. She worked in Belfast City
Hospital as an intern. She completed
rotations in Medicine, Psychiatry, Emergency
Medicine and Paediatric, as part of the UCD
/ East Coast General Practice Training
Scheme before commencing work as a GP.
Aoife has
Diplomas in both Dermatology and
Paediatrics. She takes an active interest in
medical education, and has tutored Medical
students in both UCD and Trinity College.
Aoife’s cases are under the direct
supervision from the Partner Health Medical
Director, Dr Farrelly.
Dr Jude McSharry
General Practitioner with Occupational
Health experience

Jude Graduated in Galway
Medical School in 2001, where he worked in a
variety of different areas including
Cardiology, Urology, medical and Surgical.
Jude completed his
GP training in Sligo in 2007. He worked in
practice in Sligo, Galway and Dublin. The
practices all had an interest in
occupational medicine. He is currently
completing the LFOM with the faculty of
occupational medicine. He is interested in
aviation medicine and has just graduated
from the CCAT course at the university of
Surrey, Guilford.
Jude is involved in
implementing a proactive absence management
policy in one of our major clients. He has
set up a programme where the line mangers
are becoming more involved with managing
short term absence, instructing them in
using the Bradford Factor as a tool to
review attendance. He has compiled a
template for a back to work interview in
which the line mangers are actively involved
in. Jude’s cases are under direct
supervision from the Partner Health Medical
Director, Dr Farrelly.

Phyll Blake Byrne

Phyll
has extensive experience as an on-site
Occupational Health Advisor.
She
currently provides case management to our
corporate clients.
Phyll qualified as a
nurse from St James hospital in 1982. Phyll
qualified from UCD with a Higher diploma in
Health and Safety in 1997, and since than
has worked as an OHA in a variety of
different areas such as electronic and the
food sector. She currently is working in the
chemical industry.

this capacity Phyll manages their

and provides support in every aspect of

Rozalia has experience of working with admin
software, clinical software and has been
providing client service support procedures

Joe has wide experience as an
employment and HR specialist in managing the

personnel. His experience covers HR and
commercial operations in sectors such as
retailing, distribution, sales and office
staff.
Joe’s experience also covers areas such as

negotiating. Joe holds a Masters in Business
Administration and is on the board of
several Irish companies.
